Marooned smile missions and displaced smilemakers

That is what war does to innocent cleft children.
Yesterday,as I was walking around New York City with my brother , a friend from Yemen called to ask if he could send some pictures of a recently born cleft child in war torn Yemen where I had served before the war.
Most doctors have fled. Some local doctors had seen the child and told the parents that the child did not have a cleft!
That's what happens when war destroys medical infrastructure and there are no longer any referral services.
I was helpless because no one can enter the country now.
One can only hope and pray that the war will end soon.

MAPS..legacy of a mother who prayed

She was a beautiful lady at 87. Mom was a Naga Indian, born in a village called Pangti near the river Doyang, Nagaland in the year 1931.
She was illiterate and married at a young age. When dad died in 1978 of cancer, she singlehandedly looked after all of us children.

During that time she also adopted a young Tibetan boy who is very much one of us; he lives in New York City now. He keeps a picture of mom in his living room.

Because of mom's prayers day and night, all of us had blessed lives and careers.
Later, in 2016 October she passed away peacefully after a stroke.

She always longed to see her son in New York City , and here she is forever with him in spirit . Beyond the sea..that's where we'll meet one day beyond that shore..A song I played for her this year as she was suffering from Alzheimers but could still remember us and her son in New York City .

But her legacy of love and prayers lives on.

MAPS is a continuation of that legacy.Mission Aesthetic Plastic Surgery is a
Non profit charitable service I run for underprivileged cleft kids and plastic surgery patients in developing regions;some trainings in clefts and plastic procedures are offered to mission surgeons in India and elsewhere.

It is part of our mission endeavour through our small aesthetic LLC called in New York City .

Thank you mom for making us who we are today. We pray we will be able to carry on your legacy of love  and prayers.

Ponzi Aesthetics and Aesthetic Realities

One of the latest gimmicks in the mostly unregulated aesthetic industry is the introduction of almost
immediate face rejuvenation creams and their add ons.

None of these are scientifically proven to be effective as the companies claim. If they were true, there would be no need for aesthetic plastic surgery.

Unsuspecting clients are charged large sums of money, only to be disappointed later, or too embarrassed to admit their mistake.

One of the popular fads is collagen cream rejuvenation .Collagen molecules are too large to penetrate your skin pores! It will stay on the surface and as it dries ,give your skin a tightening sensation, that is all!

The largely touted PRPM vampire facelift is nothing more than a fertilizer for  collagen and not a filler, unless fat is added as a temporary filler.

Well, the list goes on and on. Last time I shared with you all about the wanderlust quest for g spot amplification with fillers  ,measured by a debatable and highly subjective  index.

Controversies will continue to rage. Till then, better have both  aesthetic feet on the ground and forget about those phantom fantasies.

bon chance,
